Who Is The Woodland Trust?

Woodland

So with the first couple of Workshop / meeting done we have been introduced to the Woodland Trust and a possible Brief we could take on board for a project. A real world brief sounds pretty fun to work on, especially when it is going to help a cause. Apparently something weird is happening underground too. So the aim of this post is to give an introduction to this organisation and outline what they are wanting.

Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust is conservation charity concerned with the protections and management of native woodland. It owns and looks after a number of woodlands but is also interested in the conservation and education of woodlands nationwide. It is based nearby in Grantham and is keen to find new ways of raising awareness through design, digital technology and photography (pretty cool that this is the center of what we do).

The people at the Woodlands trust are environmental experts and they have a wealth of scientific and historical knowledge. They will be visiting the university to discuss their aims and problems in greater detail. So it is recommended that we attend this session as a opportunity to question the professional client.

So in terms of output this brief can be approached from a number of different angles, including the following:
Education

  • scientific study
  • conservation
  • interaction
  • data visualization
  • illustration
  • data collection
  • entertainment
  • campaign
  • history
  • raising awareness
  • outdoor visits
  • raising awareness
  • craft
  • branding
  • print
  • publications
  • moving image
  • web

This is an opportunity to collaborate across discipline with students including us digital media student, design and photography. We could also work on this as an individual project.
