WoodlandVR – Alpha Footage and ScreenShots

Lighting has been one of the biggest fights I’ve have when creating the woodland world, the shadows started coming out as big black blocks rather than having any detail at all. After troubleshooting this issue i came to the conclusion it was being caused by the landscape lightmap resolution which had been set to 1 by default. after raising this number to around 250-300 the shadows have started to have more detail shining through the leaves. The only thing I need to fix is how dark it is under the tree’s.

The above images show the placment of the models and lighting to set the scene of our world. The video below also shows the bounding boxes, one trigger and the auto map load, more of these are due to be added but for this video we were limited.

 

By the end of this project I aim to complete the second world, replicating the first world after construction and deforestation. Each world will include multiple interactive triggers activating a guide to show you the path we wish the user to follow and pop up information regarding the woodland trust and their objectives.
